Spooner Lake Cross Country Ski Area
2006/2007
[Trail Passes, Equipment Rentals, Lessons/Trails, Cabin Rentals]
Spooner Lake is the perfect ski area for people of all ages and
ability levels. Whether you want easy to moderate trails, or day long treks
into the back country, Spooner has something for you. With over 80 kilometers of
groomed cross country ski trails spread over 9,000 acres on Spooner Summit Lake
of Tahoe's East Shore.
The trails around Spooner and Meadow wind through beautiful aspen groves and along
scenic creeks. With only moderate changes in elevation, these trails are
perfect for all levels of skier. Trails gradually increase in difficulty to the
black diamond trails near Marlette Lake, where you are treated to outstanding vistas of Lake Tahoe and Washoe
Valley Nevada.
Spooner Lake Cross Country Ski Area
Skiing is typically best in the morning when it is cool. Machine grooming every night resets track and removes icy ruts from the previous day.
 |
The Lodge
At the day lodge you will find equipment rentals, lessons, lunch and snacks. All ski
trails begin from the lodge.
|
|
Our trails are beautifully groomed for classic and skating techniques by people who
love to ski. The new LMC 1800 snow cat is the state of the
art for cross country ski trail preparation.

The Carson Range Trail
...is an extraordinarily beautiful, groomed ski tour. The loop is best enjoyed by fit
advanced skiers as there is 3700' of climbing and many fun serpentine descents in the 35km
length (lodge - back to the lodge). The downhill's are best if you ski over Snow Valley
Peak first. Take plenty of water, food, extra clothing, a map and plan two to six hours to
complete the ski. Start early to ensure the best snow conditions. The trail is marked with
blue reflective diamonds, black poles with reflectors, bamboo and yellow trail junction
signs. Lucky's Cutoff will take 7 km off of the total loop distance and bypasses 800' of
climbing. Please ask at the lodge about current conditions of the trail before starting
out.
