The Chutes at Mt Rose - Click to Zoom

We know attitude is everything, but at Mt. Rose altitude is everything. Mt. Rose offers Tahoe’s highest base starting at 7,900’ and rocketing up 1800 vertical feet, ensuring the most supreme snow conditions even on the sunniest spring days.

Lake Tahoe’s Mt. Rose boasts the fact that it is the closest skiing & snowboarding resort to the Reno/Tahoe Airport, the gateway to the Sierra, placing Rose a mere 25 minutes from over 15,000 unbelievably affordable hotel rooms in Reno. This ideal locale makes Tahoe's highest base ski resort the perfect choice for the first and last day of your Lake Tahoe vacation.

New 2006/07 Highlights at Mt. Rose
What a year! Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe completed 2005/06 with over 500” of snow and over 17’ alone in March and April. Excellent conditions and near record visits will again prompt a flurry of projects for the pre 2006/07 season. Pressing onward to meet the ever increasing demand, Mt. Rose – Ski Tahoe has increased parking capacity with the addition of over 400 parking spaces to compliment both the Main & Slide Lodge facilities. With 150 spots added to the north end of the Slide lot, congestion should be eased on powder mornings where the 8:30am opening of the Blazing Zephyr 6 in the Slide Bowl often creates a caffeine augmented frenzy of local “freshie” addicts scrambling to score the ideal parking position to get not only first tracks, but to also be able to dart off the hill to make the midmorning office meeting. Parking on the Main side has had improvements to the middle lot, expanding it by 50 spaces, plus an additional 180 spots to be gained in with a new tier added to the upper lot.

Facility improvements have also seen the construction of a new Ski Patrol dispatch building centrally located between the unload stations of both 6 pack summit chairlifts providing efficient access to the entire mountain. Even after a huge snow year, Mt. Rose has gone on to expand the snowmaking system to cover the upper section of the Silver Dollar run to help achieve early season access to the Slide Bowl. A new pump house has been constructed to replace an aging structure off the Ponderosa trail. Topping off the million dollar planned expenditures, was a new snowcat, two additional mobile snow making machines, and new rental gear.

From the Entry off Bruce’s down to the intersection with Slide Bowl (bottom of Bonanza) the old Fremont Run has been summer groomed and now only requires a packed base of 10” to open. Also, from the bottom of Lower Lakeview to the Galena lift loading station, the Galena run received a complete makeover as far as summer grooming goes and the Northwest Magnum 6 received a new electric motor for the 2006/07 season.
