    • Nevada Opera Presents Giuseppe Verdi's AIDA
      • 2 performances: October 12 at 7:30 pm & October 14 at 2:00 pm
      • One of the most popular operas of all time, Aïda combines the spectacular and exotic features of grand opera with the orchestral virtuosity of Verdi’s later style and, especially in the third act, his vivid delineation of personal relationships. Claudia Waite (Turandot 2004) returns as Aïda with Gwendolyn Jones (Carmen 2002) as her rival Ameneris. Drew Slatton (Tosca 2006, Carmen 2002) portrays Radames, the love interest of both ladies.

    • Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Emancipation
      • The Fourth Ward School is one of only forty venues throughout the country for this traveling exhibition that focuses on Lincoln's quest to restore a Union divided by Civil War. The exhibition shows how Lincoln's beliefs about freeing the slaves were transformed by war-time developments.

      • The Nissan Xterra USA Championship is the culmination of a series of more than 50 qualifying events across the US that award points to the top athletes in XTERRA's eight regions. The best of the best are invited to compete at Lake Tahoe and battle for the title of XTERRA National Champion.

    • Kids Fun Run 2006
      • A free Kids Fun Run, sponsored by the South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club, will follow the 5K event at Valhalla Historic Estates. Children run in one-year age groups, starting at 2 yrs and up to 12, in age appropriate distances. All kids will receive a medal and lunch at the finish line.       • The band, formed in 1994 as an Allman Brothers Band side project, took off after its self-titled debut album release in 1995. This four-member band includes guitarist/vocalist Warren Haynes, drummer Matt Abts, keyboard player Danny Louis and bassist Andy Hess. The band’s most recent album High & Mighty, released by ATO Records, is laced with influences from blues, folk, reggae, soul, rock and jazz but reluctantly refuses a category of its own. The band bases its uniqueness on improvisation.

    • A CeleBearation Auction
      • After a wonderful summer of having 50 life-sized artist decorated bears on display, the time has come for them to be auctioned off. The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority will host the final event of Bears by the Lake - A CeleBEARation by auctioning off the bears to raise funds for South Shore youth social service organizations. A Preview Gala will be held from 6:00-7:30pm followed by the Live Auction from 7:30-9:30pm. The live auction will be a continuation of the online auction which will begin two weeks prior.

    • Nevada State Railroad Museum presents the 35th Annual Symposium - The V and T and Beyond
      • Nevada Railroads during the 1st Decade of the 20th Century - This Symposium, which will begin with night photography at the museum on Thursday, promises to be one of the more varied in its topics. The decade that ended in 1910 was filled with momentous events for Nevada Railroads. The V&T extension to Minden, the roads around Tonopah, the Western Pacific, the Nevada Northern and the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake were built during these years. Each will be a presentation topic this year, as will Reno streetcars, Pacific Fruit Express in Nevada and SP’s relocation of its shops to Sparks. Presentations by Jeff Asay, Mark Bassett, Bob Church, Stephen Drew, Phil Earl, Dave Garcia, Art Lloyd, Bob Nylen, Charlie Siebenthal and John Signor are planned. The banquet program will feature a presentation on the railroad career of E. H. Harriman. An optional Sunday bus tour in the Reno area, including stops at the N-C-O Depot and the ReTRAC project, is being developed.

A native of Philadelphia, Ms. dePasquale studied for eleven years with legendary violin pedagogue Jascha Brodsky, and earned a bachelor of music degree from Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music, subsequently pursuing graduate work at Indiana University before being appointed concertmaster of the Florida Orchestra at age 22.
