    • Topaz Lake Fishing Derby
      • The derby is open to anyone (21 years or older) with a valid fishing license. Tagged fish worth $50, $100, $500 and $1,000 are out there for the catching. Tagged fish should be taken to the Topaz General Store for verification by a Topaz Lodge official to receive the tagged amount instantly. Weekly winners will receive a cash prize for the largest trout weighing 2 pounds or more.

    • Reno-Tahoe Freeheel Open
      • A celebration of the mountain-action-sports lifestyle, this week-long event includes a 72-hour filmmakers shootout in which competitors film, edit and produce five-minute short-films in and around Reno-Tahoe to be previewed and judged at the National Bowling Stadium Feb 28. A rail jam, sponsor expo and the 2007 Telemark Extreme Freeskiing Series competition where athletes from around the world ski the most difficult lines at Alpine Meadows for a shot at $10,000 in cash and prizes.

    • The Silver Legacy presents Styx

      • Styx is an American arena rock band that saw great success in the 1970s and 1980s, penning such hits as "Come Sail Away," "Babe," and "Mr. Roboto." They were the first musical act ever to have four consecutive triple platinum albums.

    • John Ascuaga's Nugget presents Craig Chaquico

      • During the '70s and '80s, guitarist/songwriter Craig Chaquico played lead guitar with the popular rock band Jefferson Starship (which later became Starship). In 1993, he released his first adult contemporary acoustic effort, Acoustic Highway. Hits include: "Just One World", "Gypsy Nights," "Acoustic Highway," "Beyond Words," and "Lights Out San Francisco."

    • The Nevada Repertory Company presents A... My Name Is Alice

      • Using a series of short scenes intermingled with song, this is a rollercoaster ride through women’s lives. Originally developed at The Woman’s Project at American Place Theater, the show includes touching, thought-provoking, and down right funny glimpses into the day-to-day issues facing the modern woman. Conceived by Joan Micklin Silver and Julianne Boyd, Director: Sue Klemp and Musical Director: Damon Stevens.

    • Soroptimists Savor The Flavor

      • The evening will feature wines and micro brews donated by some of the area’s finest wineries and distributors, as well as a food fair, silent auction, and door prizes. All proceeds will be funneled back into the community support projects such as student scholarships, youth programs, assistance to families in need, preserving the environment, and health related projects.

    • Reno Chamber Orchestra presents William Barton

      • William Barton is widely recognized as one of Australia's finest traditional didgeridoo players. He is also a teacher and composer for the instrument, and is committed to enhancing the instrument’s profile. Born in Mt. Isa in North Western Queensland, Barton was taught the instrument at an early age by his uncle. He has appeared at music festivals throughout the world, and with symphony orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony, Queensland Orchestra, and Phoenix Symphony. Barton has recorded works for didgeridoo and orchestra for the Naxos and ABC labels.

    • Winter Blue Adventure Race

      • The Blue Adventure Race returns to Lake Tahoe and Reno, kicking off with clinics and practice runs that culminate in the race in Reno. Teams participate and compete in a series of backcountry and Nordic activities including freeheel skiing, AT skiing, snowshoeing, transceiver location, Nordic skiing, orienteering and map and compass skills. Now in its fourth year, the Big Blue Adventure Race Series challenges adventure-seekers, while showcasing the spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and Reno.

      • Trio Voronezh began their career together by playing in small concert halls in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Their repertoire ranges from the classical works of Bach, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, and Shubert to Russian folk music and popular tunes. Founded in 1993, the trio consists of Vladimir Volokhin on the domra, Sergei Teleshev on the bajan, and Valerie Petrukhin on the double-bass balalaika.

    • Sleeping Beauty with the Reno Philharmonic and AVA Ballet Theatre

      • The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the haunting score to this wonderful ballet. Re-staged and re-choreographed by Alexander Van Alstyne, Sleeping Beauty is the story of a beautiful princess who is cursed by the evil Carrabosse.
