    • Topaz Lake Fishing Derby
      • The derby is open to anyone (21 years or older) with a valid fishing license. Tagged fish worth $50, $100, $500 and $1,000 are out there for the catching. Tagged fish should be taken to the Topaz General Store for verification by a Topaz Lodge official to receive the tagged amount instantly. Weekly winners will receive a cash prize for the largest trout weighing 2 pounds or more.

    • Nevada Opera Gala 2007 - Cinderella's Black & White Ball
      • This is our annual fundraising dinner and Dress is modern-day formal (suits for the men and evening gowns or cocktail dresses for the women). It is traditional to wear black and/or white to this gala. (In the performance of Cinderella that we're doing Feb. 9 & 11, she actually wears a silver ball gown so silver would be fine too!) Since this is our major fundraising event of the year, we have several price levels. Individual ticket prices are $150 each. We also have a "student prince or princess" gala price for full time high school and college students of $75 per person. You may reserve a table of ten or buy tickets individually.

    • The Nevada Opera presents La Cenerentola (Cinderella)
      • Written just a year after the Barber of Seville, Rossini's telling of the Cinderella story has become one of his most popular works. Though the slipper has been changed to a bracelet, and the Fairy Godmother into a Philosopher, the story is essentially that of the traditional fairy tale. The music is quintessential Rossini with hilarious ensembles and magnificent arias. La Cenerentola is a story perfectly suited to Rossini's depictions of surprise, confusion and disguise. It's a colorful and vibrant stage presentation as well that no one will want to miss. Conducted by Michael Borowitz and performed in Italian with English Supertitles.

      • Pianist and composer Mike Strickland presents a hybrid of jazz and popular music. His early musical influences include Henry Mancini, Vince Guaraldi, The Beatles, and Burt Bacharach. While singing in musicals and school choirs, he discovered his love of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and Duke Ellington. As a young man in Jackson, Mississippi, he frequented jazz and blues clubs where he had the opportunity to experience local greats such as Mississippi native B.B. King.

      • Heard of the Great Ski Race? Want to improve your time from last year? We will have a small group and work progressively through the season addressing technique, fitness, planning, race strategy and waxing. Each session will have technique and fitness focal points and we will also have a practice race to "iron out" any waxing and race-day issues.
