Kirkwood Ski Resort
2008/2009
[Lift Tickets, Ski and Snowboard Rentals, Learn-to-Ski & Snowboard,
Clinics & Day Camps, Children's Ski
& Snowboard School, Child Care Center & Programs]
Don't just ski it! Explore it!
You Want Space...
Come here for that elbow room you crave. Rare private land and national forest
bordering real wilderness. Come here to get away to one of the largest but
least-populated counties in California. Arrive on one of the most scenic and traffic-free
roads in the state and find thousands of acres waiting to give you what you want, so you
can do what you want. It's a frantic world out there -- this is your sanctuary.
A Place with Character...
In the summer of 1860, Zachary Kirkwood entered the High Sierra into a world of cool
alpine lakes, colorful meadows and towering cliffs. Staking his claim in the valley
beneath a beautiful horseshoe-shaped mountain, for decades he stayed as host to cattlemen
and weary travelers seeking shelter from the elements. The hospitality remains, the legend
lives on and Kirkwood is the namesake.
Zachary's legacy in this era is yet another group
of pioneers, upholding the valley's tradition. It's what you might expect-friendly,
outgoing, adventurous hosts still working diligently to join comfort with excitement for
uniquely spirited guests.
A Place for Beauty...
Experience the raw, majestic beauty of the High Sierra -- vast bowls and snowfields
surrounded by volcanic cliffs and granite ledges. Pristine meadows basking in the sun
under crystal blue skies. Mile-long ridge tops decorated with immense cornices, cresting
like frozen waves over the deepest sea of powder snow found in North America. A backdrop
unmatched.
